What do you wear during a massage? (and what actually happens)

If you’re wondering what you’re supposed to wear to a massage, you’re not alone.
This is one of the most common questions people have before booking, especially for their first session.
And yes… it’s a fair question.
1.Short answer:
You wear whatever you’re comfortable in.
That’s it.
No dress code. No rules. No one judging your outfit choices.
2.What most people actually do
Undress completely
Or leave their underwear on
Both are completely normal.
Some people prefer to stay a bit more covered. That’s totally fine too.
3.What happens when you get on the table
After we talk for a few minutes about what’s going on and what you need, I’ll step out of the room, close the door, and give you complete privacy.
Undress to your comfort level
Get under the sheet and blanket
Get on the table
When you're ready, you’ll just say “ready!” and I’ll come back in and we’ll start.
4.Will I be exposed at any point?
No.
Only the area being worked on is uncovered. Everything else stays covered.
At no point are you exposed.
5.What if I feel awkward about it?
Totally normal.
Most people feel that way before their first massage.
But once we start, that feeling usually goes away pretty quickly.
You realize everything is handled professionally, you’re covered the whole time, and you can actually relax.
Some people even fall asleep… and yes, occasionally drool a little. It happens.
6.What about lymphatic drainage?
This is the one exception where clothing matters a bit more.
For manual lymphatic drainage, I usually recommend wearing less, not more.
Here’s why:
Lymph fluid sits just under the skin and moves through open pathways. Tight clothing like bras or underwear can block or restrict that flow, especially around the abdomen, hips, and chest.
So depending on the area we’re working on, I may suggest removing certain clothing to get the best results.
Of course, you’re still fully draped the entire time. Nothing changes there.
7.A quick reassurance
You’re always in control of your comfort level.
That includes:
How much you undress
The areas we work on
The pressure
Talking or staying quiet
If anything ever feels off, you can say something (I encourage feedback at my clinic) and
I’ll adjust right away.
If something comes up and you’re not sure how to say it, just bring it to my attention. That’s what I’m there for.
8.If you’re in Round Rock / Pflugerville / North Austin
And this question has been the thing holding you back from booking…
It’s a lot simpler (and a lot more comfortable) than you probably expect.
